B-UHS Theatre Department stages ‘Puddin and the Grumble’ to address childhood hunger

BUCKHANNON — The Buckhannon-Upshur High School Theatre Department will present “Puddin and the Grumble,” a play centered on the issue of childhood hunger, from November 30 to December 2 at 7 p.m., with a matinee on December 3 at 2:30 p.m. in the B-UHS Auditorium.

The story centers on Puddin, a 10-year-old girl who moves in with her grandmother and confronts the challenge of hunger, depicted as the “Grumble.” Puddin has to navigate a new school, a new home and a new materialized fear: the Grumble in her stomach caused by hunger.

The audience is invited to attend the performances and is encouraged to bring a canned food item as their ticket to enter. All collected food items will be donated to the Mountaineer Food Bank. The theatre department is also accepting monetary donations to support their educational programs.

The family-friendly production is written by Becky Boesen with music by David von Kampen.
