Mark Romano

Author, photographer Mark Romano to speak at Glenville State University

GLENVILLE, W.V. – As part of the ongoing Little Kanawha Reading Series, Glenville State University will play host to Mark Romano on Tuesday, April 26 at 6:00 p.m. in the Robert F. Kidd Library.

Romano will read from his latest book, One Lives One Dies. The book is a true story of two men – Bud Webb and Junior Smith – their families, their girlfriends, and their fellow soldiers during World War II. One lives and the other dies. Their stories are told through actual journals, letters, interviews, and photographs.

In addition to the reading, Romano also hopes to use the event to recruit college-age actors for a proposed film adaptation of One Lives One Dies.

The event is free and open to the public and may also be viewed via live stream on GSU’s YouTube channel on April 26.

Romano is an author of numerous books, in addition to being a photographer. He specializes in high school senior portraits and offers photography courses. He graduated from Glenville State University in 1992. Romano has received awards from Professional Photographers of America and Professional Photographers of West Virginia for his work. He lives in West Virginia with his wife and has two grown sons.

One Lives One Dies is now on sale via Amazon in print and e-book formats.

The Little Kanawha Reading Series is a collaboration between the GSU Departments of Language and Literature and Social Science and the Robert F. Kidd Library. Its purpose is to provide a showcase for a diversity of literary forms and voices in order to acknowledge and enrich the cultural heritage of Appalachia and the communities around the Little Kanawha River.
