Aubrey Paul Morrison Jr.

Aubrey Paul Morrison Jr., 76, of French Creek, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Bridgeport Healthcare Center.

He was born in Clarksburg, on August 14, 1948, the son of the late Aubrey Paul Morrison Sr. and Julia Lee Hand Morrison. As Mark Twain once said, “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” For Aubrey, his “why” was evident in his lifelong commitment to service, community, and exploration. On June 16, 1979, Paul married his true partner, Lenore Joan Starcher.

He will be missed immensely, not just by his wife and her extended family, but also by his Firefighter family.

Paul, a proud graduate of Scott High School in Boone County and West Virginia University, chose a career path that allowed him to serve his community as a pharmacist. Yet, his passion extended far beyond his profession. He was an adventurous soul with a penchant for caving and an unwavering dedication to volunteer firefighting. Paul’s dedication to the craft was evident as he founded the dive team at Gauley Bridge and served with the Gauley Bridge Fire Department, Adrian Fire Department, and Valley Fire Department. His commitment was not confined to West Virginia; he trained firefighters in Illinois, while working at the University of Illinois Fire Service Institute.

Paul ‘s life was a testament to the quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” Paul made a difference. His unwavering dedication to service, his commitment to his community, and the joy he found in exploration made his life truly meaningful.

Friends and family will gather for visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon. A Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. in the Clutter Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Treasea Crites officiating. Burial will follow in the Waterloo Cemetery in French Creek.
