Arrest made in Mingo County murder investigation

On Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at approximately 8:26 p.m., Mingo County 911 dispatched a gunshot victim call at the address of 984 E. 4th Avenue in the Williamson area of Mingo County.

Corporal T.G. Kania III, along with members of the Williamson Police Department and Mingo County Sheriffs Office, responded to the scene. An unknown deceased male was located.

On Thursday, December 9, 2021, Williamson Detachment Troopers were able to identify the deceased male as Curtis Orlando Artis.

Troopers were able to determine that Mr. Artis had been shot by Pierre Antonellio Taylor, resulting in his death.

Taylor, 48 of Williamson, was arrested without incident and charged with murder. He was awaiting arraignment at the Southwestern Regional Jail as of Friday morning.
