Another winter blast to hit region Saturday

Another winter storm is predicted to move through Upshur County this weekend.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for much of West Virginia, including Upshur County, that is in effect from 4 a.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday.

“Snow expected,” reads the advisory. “Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts of up to 5 inches expected. A period of a rain snow mix is possible across parts of West Virginia Saturday afternoon.”

The eastern mountain regions of West Virginia are under a winter storm watch, with snowfall of 5 or more inches possible in those regions.

Travel throughout the state could be difficult.

“Plan on slippery road conditions,” the NWS warns drivers. “A winter weather advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.”
