Annual Day of Giving to be held at GSC

GLENVILLE, WV – On February 19, 1872, Glenville State College was established by the West Virginia state legislature. This year, the College will again be hosting a Day of Giving fundraising campaign on that date to celebrate GSC’s 148th anniversary.

“During last year’s Day of Giving campaign, we raised over $124,000 from over 400 individual donors. The average gift was $86, which is $11 higher than the national average. It was truly amazing what our generous donors were able to accomplish in such a short period of time last year, and we’re hoping that 2020 has even bigger things in store,” said Ashley Knight, GSC’s Director of Fundraising. “This year, we challenge everyone to find an area they are passionate about to support – we have a goal of 200 online donations during Day of Giving 2020.”

During this year’s Day of Giving, which will take place on Wednesday, February 19, a celebration with the campus community will be held in the Mollohan Campus Community Center from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. That event will feature a “vision board” for 2020, matching gift opportunities, bonus challenges, a thank you card writing station, and refreshments. Donations will also be accepted from the community during the Day of Giving in the College Advancement Suite, which is located in the Heflin Administration Building, Suite 212.

A toolkit and text platform has been established for those interested in participating in GSC’s 2020 Day of Giving. Text “gsc2020” to 31996 to receive campaign updates and a link to donate (standard message and data rates may apply).

New donor challenges for 2020 have also been created which give supporters different ways of helping while also increasing impact. The program includes corporate gift challenges, matching gift challenges, and individuals acting as a donation collection point among their social circle. The challenges create opportunities for givers to participate and expand the effect they can have on Day of Giving fundraising goals.

“One of the easiest ways people can help out leading up to the Day of Giving, aside from making a donation or pledge, is to simply help spread the word. We encourage anyone to utilize our Day of Giving toolkit to share information about this campaign,” Knight added.

Donations to support GSC can also be mailed to the Glenville State College Foundation, 200 High Street, Glenville, WV 26351 at any time.
