Anna Ruth Reed Johns

Anna Ruth Reed Johns, age 87, formerly of Flintstone, MD, died on October 20, 2025, at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family in Greencastle, PA.

She was born April 6, 1938, in Adrian, WV, a daughter of the late Enoch W. and Minnie Gay Lantz Reed.

On September 9, 1956, she married Harold B. Johns. They were married for 61 years before he preceded her in death on December 24, 2017. She was the last surviving member of her family.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy; three brothers, Kenneth, Carl and Enoch Reed and five sisters, May Ware, Gay Norman, Mary Norman, Merle Casto Miller, and Ethel Smith Chipps.

She is survived by four daughters, Cornelia Cooley and husband Willis of Greencastle, PA, Donnis Temple and husband Dicky of Hornbeck, LA, Malinda Garner and husband Thomas of Greencastle and Teresa Snyder and husband Douglas of Little Orleans, MD; one son, Harold Johns, Jr. and wife Mary, of Columbia, MD; 13 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 11 step great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Mrs. Johns was a cook at Flintstone School for many years until she retired. The family would like to extend special thanks to the Heartland Hospice Team of Chambersburg for their care.

Friends will be received Friday, October 24, 2025, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. William Kerns officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon.
