Anita Yvonne Farnsworth

Anita Yvonne Farnsworth, 80, of Buckhannon, passed away at her residence on Monday, October 26, 2020 after long courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Upshur County on May 15, 1940, a daughter of the late Willis A. and Maxola May Brady Cornell.

On February 11, 1960, Anita married her true love, Robert Farnsworth and this year they celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage.

In addition to her parents, Anita was preceded in death by two children: Dwain Farnsworth and Jewell Paige; and one brother, Donald G. Cornell.

Survivors include her loving husband, Robert Farnsworth of Buckhannon; two brothers: Willis J. Cornell and wife, Maggie, of Elkins, and James F. Cornell and wife, Dixie, of Richwood; one sister-in-law: Ho Yon Cornell of Kileen, Texas; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Anita was a 1959 graduate of Richwood High School and before Covid-19 was an active member of Tennerton United Methodist Church. In her earlier years, she worked for the Dixie Drive-In at Tennerton and Murphy Mart. Anita was a proud mother and homemaker to her family before joining her husband, Robert, at the Upshur County Sheriff’s office in the tax department where she remained until she retired with over 10 years of service. Anita had a passion for growing flowers at home and enjoyed cooking a good meal.

The family requests that all visitors follow the current COVID-19 guidelines and wear a mask. Family and friends will gather at Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon from noon – 1 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2020. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. in the Clutter Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Upshur Memorial Park.
