Allen Freeman Tenney

Allen Freeman Tenney, age 86, of French Creek, WV, died Monday, September 12, 2022, at the WV Caring Hospice Center in Elkins, WV.

He was born August 6, 1936, in Queens, WV, a son of the late Straud Primm and Lena Mae Russell Tenney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, Lester Harold Tenney, “Chuck” Straud Primm Tenney, II, Lucille P. Sayre, Norma Jean Vaughn, Carolyn Ruth Cunningham and Beulah Mae Marsh; one infant brother and daughter-in-law, Billy Jo Tenney.

He is survived by five children, Angela Catlin,  Melody Lynn Skidmore and husband Jackie, Allen F. Tenney, II, Scottie N. Tenney and wife Sarah and Doris J. Simmons; nine grandchildren, Jamie Daugherty and husband Jesse, Kimberly Huffman and husband Craig, Tony Skidmore, Amanda Duckworth and husband Will, Celita Riffle and husband Anthony, Jeremy, Tyler and Shalayna Tenney and Sarah Mellinger; eleven great-grandchildren, Shelby, Brendan and Marian Daugerty, Dominic Riffle, Randy and John Skidmore, Aliva DeMoss, Jacob Huffman, and Ivy, Desmond and Dominic Mellinger.

He was a member of the Brooks Hill United Methodist Church and was baptized in 1948 at the Bethlehem Church. He worked for DLM and Heater Trucking and was also a private mechanic.

Friends will be received Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 10 AM until 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Brooks Hill Church Cemetery in Brooks Hill, WV.
