Albert Lee Lake

Albert Lee Lake, 86, of French Creek, W.Va., died Saturday, August 8, 2020, at his home.

He was born March 8, 1934, in Alexander, W.Va., a son of the late Dallas and Eleanor Zickefoose Lake.

On April 4, 1970, he married Sandra Molnar who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Lori LeSuer and husband David of Waxhaw, N.C.; two sons, Russell Lake and wife Martha of Evington, Va. and Jason Lake and wife Stephanie of Wendell, N.C.; four granddaughters, Andrea Lattin and husband Michael of Raleigh, N.C., Rachel Miller and husband Ryan of Oakland, Md., Anna Lake of Evington and Lydia LeSuer of Waxhaw; five grandsons, Daniel LeSuer and wife Hayley of Tega Cay, S.C., Benjamin Lake and wife Jessica of Raleigh, N.C., Andrew Lake and wife Erin of Charlotte, N.C., and Jonah and Caleb Lake both of Wendell; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Hodges of Sparta, Tenn. and Shirley Chisam of McMinnville, Tenn. and one brother, Ervin Lake and wife Kelley of Alexander.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Barbara Lake; infant daughter, Margie Lake and two sisters, Ida Mae Pack and Margaret McClintock.

In 1952 Mr. Lake was an Honor Society Graduate of Buckhannon -Upshur High School in Buckhannon, W.Va. Then from 1958 – 1960 he served in the U. S. Army in Fort Huachuca, Ariz.

From 1969 until his death he was a member in good stand-in of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio. Additionally, he was the past Master of Lake Shore Lodge No. 307.

In 1993, Mr. Lake retired, after 39 years of service, from the International Union of Operating Engineers. He finished his illustrious and storied career as the Executive Assistant to the General President in Washington D.C.

From 2010 to 2020 he served on the James W. Curry Library board and from 2009 to 2020 he was the Honorary Yardmaster in Alexander, W.Va.

Mr. Lake loved to build, repair and maintain anything, but especially his beloved home affectionately known as “The Old Place” in Alexander.

He looked forward to his high school class reunions and enjoyed attending the monthly class luncheon where he would visit with lifelong friends. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his family and enjoyed visiting with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received Saturday, August 15, 2020 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m.

In honoring Mr. Lake’s wishes, he will be cremated following services. Burial will take place at a later date in the Pine Forest Cemetery in Wake Forest, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions can be made to the Upshur Parish House in Buckhannon.
