The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Thursday that 998 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s an increase of 11 since the last report.
Locally, COVID-19 cases are active in Upshur (14), Barbour (2), Lewis (17), Randolph (9) and Webster (17) counties. In Upshur County, that’s an increase of one active case in the last 24 hours.
One additional death has been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – a 69-year old male from Preston County.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of July 15, 2021, there have been 3,060,485 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 164,843 total cases and 2,917 deaths,” according to a press release.
The daily percent positive was 1.92%.
A total of 864,845 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said. That’s about 48% of the state.
