The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Friday that 1,259 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s a decrease of 75 since the last report.
Locally, COVID-19 cases are active in Upshur (11), Barbour (3), Lewis (7), Randolph (34) and Webster (3) counties. In Upshur County, that’s a decrease of three active cases in the last 24 hours.
Two additional deaths have been attributed to the disease in the last 24 hours, according to the DHHR – an 83-year old male from Mercer County and an 83-year old male from Wyoming County.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of July 2, 2021, there have been 3,016,020 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 164,149 total cases and 2,899 deaths,” according to a press release.
The daily percent positive was 1.26%.
A total of 830,798 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said. That’s about 46% of the state.
