BUCKHANNON — Stockert Youth & Community Center held its monthly Board meeting Monday, August 2, 2021, and among other items discussed was the date of the regular scheduled meeting for September, which falls on the Labor Day holiday.

The Board voted to move the meeting to Tuesday, September 7, 2021, in the Council Chambers at City Hall, and to hold it at 4 p.m. to avoid a conflict with another scheduled Board meeting.

Also discussed was the annual Children’s Festival, which this year will be held in conjunction with City of Buckhannon’s Truck Fest and special activities by the WV Strawberry Festival. The SYCC Children’s Festival, a free festival for children and their families, will be on September 18, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Of course, the SYCC and the City of Buckhannon will continue to monitor the current rise in COVID-19 cases in Upshur County and will react appropriately to advice from the Upshur County Health Department, the Governor’s Office, and the CDC regarding the public’s health and safety.

As are all City of Buckhannon meetings, the Stockert Youth & Community Center Board Meeting is a public meeting, which you can attend in person or by GoToMeeting. For more details about attending an upcoming SYCC meeting, contact 304-472-1651.
