Leona Clarice Underwood

Leona Clarice Underwood, 89, of French Creek, W.Va., died Sunday, November 8, 2020, at Holbrook Health Care Center in Buckhannon, W.Va.

She was born December 18, 1930, in Webster Springs, W.Va., a daughter of the late Elza Lee and Arnie Light Hissam.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Blaine Underwood; one son, Steven Craig Underwood and one brother, Okey Hissam.

She is survived by one son, Arnold Blaine Underwood, Jr., and wife Margaret of Buckhannon; four grandsons, Tommy Underwood of Elkins, W.Va., Cody Underwood of Buckhannon, Blane Underwood and wife Donna and Lee Underwood and wife Lily all of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one granddaughter, Missy Loudin and husband Dusty of Buckhannon; four brothers, Roy Hissam and wife Ruth of Rock Cave, W.Va., Darrell Hissam of Buckhannon, Danny Hissam and wife Louise of Clarksburg, W.Va. and Gary Hissam and wife Adrienne of Kanawha Head, W.Va.; three sisters, Garnieta Baxa and husband Frank of Buckhannon, Janice Nahidian and husband Barry of Va. and Shirley Zickefoose of Buckhannon; several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Underwood was a homemaker and a Methodist by Faith. She worked for the Senior Center for 24 years.

Friends will be received Wednesday, November 11, 2020 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor David Jesse officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon.
