BUCKHANNON – Sweet-A-Licious will be offering fall fare and Halloween treats this Saturday.
The best part? Kids in costumes can score free ice cream!
Owner of Sweet-A-Licious Michelle Jack said they wanted to have one last fall event for Halloween, so they will be offering free ice cream to trick-or-treaters.
“We wanted to have an event that brought Halloween and fall together, so we’re setting up outside from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the first thing we’re doing is giving any kid that comes by in costume a free ice cream product, so that could be an ice cream cup, popsicle, fudgesicle or ice cream sandwich – they get to pick whatever, and it will be free of charge,” Jack said.
Sweet-A-Licious will also offer funnel cakes, caramel apples and fall-themed milkshakes.
“We love the fall season, and Hershey’s has a lot of great fall ice cream flavors like deep dish apple pie and a great pumpkin,” Jack said. “First and foremost, we wanted to offer something to the kids. So much has been taken away from the kids this year with COVID, and it’s just something to look forward to, and they don’t have to purchase anything. We wanted it free to the kids.”
The event was originally scheduled for Friday Oct. 30, but they decided to move it to Halloween because of weather-related concerns.
“We want to do it outside because we want to be COVID safe, and Friday is supposed to be a high of 45 and constant rain and we didn’t want to make parents get their kids dressed up twice,” Jack said. “We just thought we would start a little bit early Saturday because it’s supposed to be 10 degrees warmer.”
Sweet-A-Licious will still offer some fall items after Halloween, but only for a limited time.
“I actually checked today because I asked them how much longer I would have my pumpkin and my deep dish apple pie, and I expect to have it for at least two more weeks, and then they’ll roll out the eggnog, the peppermint stick and the other Christmas flavors,” Jack said.
Sweet-A-Licious will also be at Maniac Mountain Haunted House from noon to 4 p.m. earlier that day.
