Ellen Reuss

Ellen Reuss, 80, of French Creek, W.Va., died Monday, September 28, 2020, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon, W.Va.

She was born January 11, 1940, in Upshur County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Thurman and Wavleen Rollyson Alkire. On May 22, 1987 she married Henry Reuss who preceded her in death on February 22, 2006.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Josie Alkire.

She is survived by one daughter, Janet Coffey of French Creek; one son, Paul D. Lake of French Creek; one grandson, EJ Coffey of French Creek; one granddaughter, Kathy McKinney and husband Corey of Lexington, Ky.; one great-granddaughter, Susan McKinney of Lexington; one great- grandson, James McKinney of Lexington; two brothers, Larry Alkire and wife Linda of French Creek and Richard Alkire of Dayton, Ohio and one sister, Mary Anne Jacobus and husband Bob of French Creek.

Mrs. Reuss was a Secretary and a Methodist by faith. She served in the U.S. Air Force and loved to read, sew, crochet, work on crossword & jigsaw puzzles and play computer games.

In honoring Mrs. Reuss’ wishes, she will be cremated. A private family memorial service will be held on October 10, 2020. A public memorial service for friends and extended family will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ellen’s honor to the Mountaineer Food Bank or the Parish House.
