BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The Board of Trustees and staff of the Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon are pleased to announce that the Foundation for Better Schools in Upshur Schools, Inc. has been awarded a $20,880 Core Priority Initiative grant.
“We believe that the work of organizations like Foundation for Better Schools are key for moving the needle on increased access to healthy food for our children,” said Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon Executive Director Janell Ray. “Through its collaborative partnership with Upshur County Schools, the Foundation for Better Schools is already making significant strides, and we value their expertise and are excited by their ability to leverage our dollars to do even more.”
Funding from the Pallottine Foundation will support the Upshur County Schools’ county-wide Backpack Pack Program by providing funding for coordinated food purchases for weekly distribution of back packs to students. The Foundation for Better Schools in Upshur County is working collaboratively with the school system to implement a coordinated purchasing and distribution system to provide students with an additional supply of healthy foods.
