Capito announces more than $9 million in covid-19 relief funding for Beckley ARH hospital

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Beckley ARH Hospital will receive $9,750,000 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This funding is made available through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and will provide financial support due to hardship created by the coronavirus outbreak. In total, HHS announced today that they will begin distributing $10 billion in a second round of high impact COVID-19 area funding to hospitals starting next week.

“This funding is welcome news, particularly as we continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the beginning of this outbreak, I have constantly advocated for elevated relief to our hospitals, especially in more rural areas of West Virginia. It is crucial that our hospitals and medical professionals have the support they need to do their jobs effectively, and this funding is a critical component towards that. I will continue to work closely with our medical providers and local leaders so we can continue delivering the resources West Virginians rely on,” said Senator Capito.

Last month, Senator Capito announced that West Virginia hospitals will receive nearly $200 million in Provider Relief Fund payments following her request with Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.). Click here to read the senator’s request.
