Sarah “Sally” Jeanne Davis

Sarah “Sally” Jeanne Davis, 99, of Glenn Dale, Md., and previously of Buckhannon, entered eternal rest on Thursday, July 9, 2020. She passed under the compassionate care of Avonlea Ridge Assisted Living Facility and surrounded by loving family.

She was born in Niagara Falls, N.Y., on June 24, 1921, a daughter of the late Frank and Grace Barrone Castiglione.

After being introduced by a mutual friend, Sally said “I Do” to the love of her life, Stanley Davis, on April 17, 1948. Together they shared over 25 wonderful years of marriage before his unexpected passing on November 22, 1973. They have now been reunited to share eternity.

In addtition to her parents and husband, Sally was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Ubowski and Elnor Benedict.

Forever cherishing their memories of Sally are three children: Diane Davis of Brisbane, Australia, Gary Davis and wife, Angela Panza of Silver Springs, Md., and Glenn Michael Davis of Glenn Dale, Md.; one grandchild, Dana Hack; three great-grandchildren: Quinn, Lachlan, and Riley; and several nieces and nephews.

Sally graduated from Niagara Falls High School and worked as a secretary in New York at a titanium alloy manufacturing company for several years. After her marriage to Stanley, she dedicated her time to caring for her family and home. Together Sally and Stanley brought their family to the Wild and Wonderful West Virginia and settled in Buckhannon. She began her real estate career as an agent with Griffin Real Estate in 1973. Sally loved the industry so much that in 1984 she partnered with French Armstrong and became co-owner of Caldwell Banker Armstrong Davis Realty. Throughout her real estate career, Sally helped many other agencies especially during her time as president of the Weston-Buckhannon Board of Realtors. She loved her job and was reluctant to retire in 2010. Her faith was strong and she was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church for many years. She aided with the church directory and was a previous Alter and Rosary secretary. Sally had a kind and caring heart and will be missed immensely by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, Sally requested that donations be made in her honor to Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 35 Franklin St. Buckhannon, WV 26201, or to Upshur County Parish House-Food Bank, 68 College Ave., Buckhannon, WV 26201.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required for all indoor events. Family and friends will gather for Visitation at Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church located at 35 Franklin St. in Buckhannon at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2020 with Father Ed Tetteh officiating. Interment will follow at Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
