The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported 20 new known cases of COVID-19 in their Friday update, pushing the state total to 237.
“As of April 3, 2020, 6,367 residents have been tested for COVID-19, with 237 positive, 6,130 negative and two deaths,” the DHHR said in a press release.
New cases were confirmed Friday in Berkeley, Cabell, Kanawha, Marion, Mineral, Ohio, Preston and Wood, according to the DHHR data.
For the first time, the DHHR released demographic information about the more than 200 known cases of COVID-19 in the state. According to that data, women slightly outnumber men and all age groups older than 10 are reporting positive results, with the largest cluster in the 50-69 age group, which accounts for 42 percent of the positive results.
