PHILIPPI — The Annual Tag Sale, an Arts & Craft Show, and Guest Chef Jason Fleck, the first Celebrate Local! dinner chef all contribute to a weekend full of activities for the public at Adaland Mansion this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, August 10, 11, and 12.

Two free activities will dominate Friday and Saturday, August 10-11, both scheduled from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on the side yard pavilion.  The Annual Tag Sale will have numerous and varied items for sale.  The collection continues of antique furniture and glassware, art pieces, collectables, and special finds.  Call 304-457-2415 for details about items being collected and to make arrangements for pick up if that service is wanted. All proceeds from this sale will go toward operational expenses and historical preservation of the 1870 Neo-Greek home that sits on a hill four miles north of downtown Philippi.

On the same days at the same time, Adaland Mansion will also host an Arts & Craft Fair.  Crafters that have confirmed are Sandy Bretzman with her jellies and other goodies; Pam Frey who will have her original wreaths for sale; Clark Freeman who will showcase his blacksmithing skills and the products he has made using these skills; Toth who will be selling his handmade furniture; Jim Skidmore and Rick Clark, both state-known potters, who will be selling their pottery, and Terry Suder and Sharon Wamsley who will have bird houses and other items for sale.

Food will be available for purchase on both days at the mansion house.  For more details about either of these activities, call 304-457-2415 or visit www.adaland.org.

The weekend will end on a high note with the first of three Celebrate Local! dinners.  Guest Chef Jason Fleck, formerly of Elkins’ 1863 Grill and Smoke on the Water restaurants, now of WV Wesleyan, headlines the annual farm to table dinner celebrating local foods and the extraordinary chefs who prepare them.
