GLENVILLE, WV – The Board of Directors of the Maier Foundation, Inc. has unanimously approved a total grant of $100,000 for scholarships at Glenville State College. The funds will provide direct scholarship support for West Virginia students who demonstrate financial need.

“The Maier Foundation’s primary mission is to support higher education for West Virginia students. Our board was excited to fund need-based scholarships to support talented students at Glenville State. In a time of increasing college costs, private scholarship support is critical to increasing college access,” said Brad Rowe, Maier Foundation President.

The Maier Foundation, Inc. was originally established by William J. Maier, Jr. in 1958 as the Sarah and Pauline Maier Scholarship Foundation, named for his mother and wife. Maier, a Clarksburg, West Virginia native, was a Rhodes Scholar and eventually returned to the Mountain State where he practiced corporate law. In 2003, the Sarah and Pauline Maier Foundation was renamed the Maier Foundation.

We are very happy they have chosen Glenville State College for this scholarship program.”

While the Maier Foundation focuses primarily on the furtherance of higher education in West Virginia and on the higher education of West Virginia residents attending colleges and universities elsewhere, they also make educationally-related distributions to cultural and other organizations in the Kanawha Valley.
