Citizens Bank of West Virginia has made an $11,000 investment in Union Elementary and Buckhannon Academy Elementary schools for new gym wall mats. The padded wall mats will improve the appearance of the gyms, minimize noise and serve as a preventative measure for injuries during physical activities.

“Citizens Bank is happy to make this worthwhile contribution to Upshur County as these gyms serve as a hub for many school and community events,” stated Citizens President & CEO Nathaniel S. Bonnell. “We are proud of our longstanding philanthropy and role in building better communities, through contributions and volunteer resources.”

The wall mats were installed in early November. “We greatly appreciate Citizens Bank of West Virginia’s generous support of this project,” said Dr. Sara Stankus, Superintendent of Upshur County Schools. “Citizens is a community bank and good community partner, evident by their continual partnerships in our county. We are excited about the added safety of the wall mats for our students.”

Citizens Bank of West Virginia, with assets of $280 million, is headquartered in Elkins, West Virginia and operates branch offices in Parsons, Beverly, Snowshoe and Buckhannon. The bank provides consumer and small business deposits, consumer loans, residential mortgages, wealth management and commercial real estate loans.
