Gallery update: Hurst scores twice, but Bucs fall to Musselman

Ryan Hurst scored twice but the Buckhannon-Upshur High School soccer Buccaneers dropped a tight 3-2 decision to Musselman on Saturday.

The game started in sweltering sunshine but was delayed briefly at halftime as a storm moved through, leaving in its wake… sweltering sunshine.

The Bucs mounted a furious attack after falling behind 3-1, and Hurst’s second goal only increased their intensity up front. But Musselman — coached by former West Virginia Wesleyan College assistant Keith Moran — held firm to give the visitors their second win in as many days. The Applemen defeated Elkins Friday night.

The defeat drops B-U to 6-3 on the season. Every loss has come by a single goal, while every win has been by a margin of five or more. The Bucs will be on the road at Grafton on Tuesday before returning home to host Lincoln on Thursday.

My Buckhannon photographer Brian Bergstrom has posted a bunch of high resolution photos from the game here. Note that gallery access requires a premium membership. For a limited time, use coupon code FALLSPORTS2019 to save $15 off your first year.
