Police: Detroit woman tried to open phone account with fraudulent ID

A Detroit woman was arrested Wednesday after police say she tried to use a fraudulent ID to open an account with multiple phone lines at the local Sprint store.

Erica Samone LeFlore, 25, of Detriot, Mich. was arrested for attempting to utter, a felony, by Cpl. Marshall O’Connor of the Buckhannon Police Department.

According to the criminal complaint, employees at Sprint told O’Connor that LeFlore had attempted to open an account and handed them a Pennsylvania driver’s license and TD Bank credit card in the name “Anna Fisher.”

The employees became suspicious of the woman’s identity when she gave them a birthdate different from that on the license, according to the complaint. O’Connor checked the status of the license through the Upshur County Comm Center; it came back belonging to a Yvette L. Ullom and had expired 19 years ago — on March 31, 2000.

“Upon reaching out to the FBI with a comparison fingerprint card, I was able to discover the true identity of the defendant as Erica LeFlore out of Michigan,” O’Connor writes in the complaint.

If convicted of attempting to utter, LeFlore faces one to 10 years in jail or confinement in jail for up to a year and a fine of $500.
