Update: Deputies release name of woman killed in Hall Road wreck

A woman was killed Tuesday morning when her vehicle struck a tree on the Hall Road.

April D. Riley was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee when it went off the right side of the road and struck a tree head-on at about 10:30 a.m. The vehicle was going around the left-hand turn at the bottom of the hill just past the Macedonia Church at the time of the wreck.

Cpl. Theron Caynor with the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident.

Buckhannon firefighters extradited Riley by removing the driver’s side door. CPR was in progress as she was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital by Upshur County EMS. She was then lifeflighted to Ruby Memorial Hospital, where she passed away, Caynor said.

“We don’t know what caused the wreck; it’s still under investigation,” Caynor told My Buckhannon. “All we can tell right now is that the vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree.”
