Upshur County Public Library to host 25th Annual Ramp Dinner on April 26

Come to the Upshur County Public Library from 5-7 p.m. on April 26 to enjoy the Upshur County Public Library’s Silver Anniversary Ramp Dinner, an Appalachian extravaganza brought to you by the Upshur County Public Library in partnership with Fish Hawk Acres.

Chef Dale Hawkins of Fish Hawk Acres is returning to partner with the library for the Ramp Dinner for the first time in a few years and we are very excited to have him back!

The library is located at 1150 Rt. 20 South Rd. in Buckhannon.

In order to prepare for the dinner, the library will be closing at 2 p.m. that day and will reopen for normal business on Saturday, April 27, at 10 a.m.

The menu will consist of carved roasted pork loin cutlet with ramp chimichurri and demi (i.e. no ramps), oven roasted vegetables and bacon mac and cheese (with and without ramps).

Finally, there will be fresh artisan greens tossed with charred ramp & champagne vinaigrette & house vinaigrette, along with buttermilk bacon & ramp biscuits, and dinner rolls with butter & ramp herb compound butter.

Choices for dessert include rustic apple pie with freshly whipped cream and a strawberry & rhubarb crisp.  Coffee, iced tea, and water will be provided. This is a unique opportunity to sample gourmet ramp dishes in the library.

Tickets are $25 a person and $12.50 for children under 12.  All proceeds benefit the Upshur County Public Library.

In addition, the Friends of the Upshur County Public Library will be holding a silent auction and basket raffle during the Dinner.  Advance reservations and payment are accepted through April 19 and are required this year.

Reservations are accepted in person at the Circulation Desk or by calling the Library at 304-473-4219, extensions 10 or 14, during regular library hours. Library hours are 10 a.m. through 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. through 5 p.m. on Fridays, and 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

This culinary experience is available only once a year and has been held annually since 1995.  The library has continued to have many exciting changes over the past yea, and would like to share them with the community.  Please come out and support your library.
