The Nature Conservancy in West Virginia has a few open spots for a guided hike into its Red Creek Headwaters Preserve, formerly known as Dobbin Slashings, on Thursday, Oct. 1.

Hikers meet at the Bear Rocks parking area at 9:45 a.m. for registration. The hike begins at 10 a.m. with a short talk, then splits into groups of 10 to follow wilderness guidelines. The route follows the Sundew Trail to Dobbin Grade and into the preserve and back. The Dobbin Grade stretch is a wet hike, so participants should be ready to get their shoes wet and bring hiking poles. The outing is a chance to learn about the conservancy’s work in Canaan Valley and its plans for the preserve.

Space is limited and hikers must sign up in advance. To join, email Hannah Snyder at hannah.snyder@tnc.org.
