BUCKHANNON — My Buckhannon is proud to present another fall season of the Hank Ellis All-Stars, recognizing Buckhannon-Upshur athletes who delivered standout performances across football, soccer, cross country, volleyball and golf.
Each week, one male and one female athlete earn the honor based on their impact, consistency and contributions to their teams.
For the week of Sept. 7 –Sept. 13, the Hank Ellis All-Stars are Emma Pingley and Eli Watkins.
Pingley is a sophomore on the Buckhannon-Upshur golf team. She recently qualified for the WVSSAC Girls Golf Invitational at The Links at Woodridge. In the state invitational, she finished in the top third of the standings, placing 17th and carding a 91. She also qualified for states last year as a freshman and placed 23rd, moving up six spots this year.
Watkins is a junior tailback and defensive back on the Buccaneer football team. He scored two touchdowns in B-U’s 24-19 victory over Nicholas County, their first win of the season. He had a 27-yard interception return for a score for the Bucs’ first touchdown and then sealed the win with the go-ahead touchdown on a three-yard run late in the fourth quarter.
Congratulations to Pingley and Watkins on this week’s Hank Ellis All-Stars.
