Trunk or Treat at Audra returns on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Audra State Park’s Upper Picnic Pavilion. Trunk setup starts at 2:30 p.m., festivities begin at 5 p.m., and the trunk or treat itself starts at 6 p.m. and runs until the candy runs out. Everyone is welcome to set up a trunk or help hand out candy.
This year’s event includes a costume contest and a trunk display contest, both with new prizes. Donations for Animal Friends of Barbour County are welcome, including food, bleach, paper towels, trash bags, treats and toys.
Pumpkin Court runs again this year, and all the money contestants raise goes to Animal Friends of Barbour County. Children compete in three age groups: Duke and Duchess for birth through 6, Prince and Princess for 7 through 12, and King and Queen for 13 through 17. The contestant who raises the most in each age group is crowned at Trunk or Treat.
Contestants have to tell organizers they are running, and fundraising can start as soon as a child is signed up. All funds must be turned in by 2:30 p.m. on the day of the event; treasurer Debbie Haddix collects them. Cash (exact change, no coin change), checks, money orders and cashier’s checks are accepted, made payable to Animal Friends of Barbour County.
