Superhero-themed Healthy Hero Hustle 5K and health fair return to Buckhannon on September 19

WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital and West Virginia Wesleyan College will again host the superhero-themed Healthy Hero Hustle 5K Run/Walk and a free community health fair on Saturday, September 19, 2026, in Buckhannon.

The professionally timed 5K begins at 10 a.m. at the West Virginia Wesleyan College fountain loop on Camden Avenue. Participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite superheroes, and awards will go to the top overall and age-group finishers. Proceeds benefit the Student Nurses of Wesleyan (SNOW).

Early registration is $30 through August 28 and guarantees a race t-shirt and swag bag. The fee rises to $35 from August 29 through September 17, and race-day registration is $40. Children ages 0–5 are free. Runners and walkers can register at RunSignup.

A free community health fair runs from 9 a.m. to noon and is open to the public without race registration, featuring local health organizations, community support groups and hospital departments.

WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital is a critical access community hospital at 1 Amalia Drive in Buckhannon. The Pallottine Missionary Sisters opened it as an eight-bed hospital in 1921, and it is now part of WVU Medicine.
