Upshur County residents turn out for ‘No Kings’ rally, part of nationwide demonstrations

Upshur County Democratic Women organized a “No Kings” rally Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at the Upshur County Courthouse, according to a press release from the organization. The rally was one of many held nationwide.

Members of Upshur County Democratic Women, Upshur United and members of the public turned out to demonstrate against the Trump administration. Protestors held signs expressing their sentiments about the current state of the nation, including “Protect Our Constitution,” “Help Melt Ice,” “We do not believe in power for the sake of power,” “Stand against the fascist authoritarian takeover of democracy,” and “Are we in the Golden Era yet?”

Turnout on the brisk March day was sizable, according to the release.
