FROSTBURG, Md. — The West Virginia Wesleyan women’s basketball earned its first victory of the season in comeback fashion on Saturday afternoon, surging past Pitt-Johnstown 79–72 at Bobcat Arena in Frostburg. The Lady Bobcats (1–1) used a decisive 23-point fourth quarter and a dominant interior presence to overcome a late nine-point deficit and secure the win.
Trailing 56–55 entering the final frame, Wesleyan outscored UPJ 23–17 in the fourth and shot an impressive 66.7% (8–12) from the field in the final period. Perhaps most importantly, the Lady Bobcats closed the game at the free-throw line, hitting 6-of-6 in the fourth quarter.
Four Lady Bobcats reached double figures, and Wesleyan shot an efficient 50% from the floor (30–60) on the day.
Top Performers
Emma Witt – 19 points, 6 rebounds
Witt was a force throughout, scoring in all four quarters and delivering a pair of key buckets in the closing minutes.
Sydney Baird – 16 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals
Baird’s early scoring and fourth-quarter free throws steadied the Bobcats. Her three-pointer at 9:36 in the fourth extended the lead during the crucial run.
Kilah Dandridge – 16 points, 3 steals
Dandridge sparked momentum all afternoon, including a pivotal three in the first quarter and several transition baskets that helped the Bobcats stay within striking distance.
Allie Daniels – 12 points, 12 rebounds
Daniels’ double-double anchored the paint. Her four offensive rebounds created second-chance opportunities that proved vital, including multiple tip-ins in the third and fourth quarters.
The Lady Bobcats host Central Penn College on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 4 p.m. to begin Wesleyan’s 2025-25 campaign in the Rockefeller Center. Admission is free.
