Schedule set for WVSSAC state baseball tournament

Sixteen high school teams will compete in the inaugural four-class WVSSAC state baseball tournament at GoMart Ballpark in Charleston June 5-7, with semifinals on Thursday and Friday and championships on Saturday.

CHARLESTON — Sixteen high school baseball teams have qualified for the 2025 WVSSAC State Tournament that will be played at GoMart Ballpark in Charleston. The Class A and Class AA semifinals are set for Thursday, June 5. Class AAA and Class AAAAA semifinals are scheduled for Friday, June 6. The championship games will be played Saturday, June 7.

This is the first edition of the four-class state tournament. Four teams qualify in each class. Next season, the tournament will expand from 12 to 28 games as eight teams will advanace in each of the four classes.

Buckhannon-Upshur played three teams that made the state tournament in Philip Barbour (Class AA), Fairmont Senior twice (Class AAA) and Morgantown twice (Class AAAA).

Class A

Semifinals (Thursday, June 5)

No. 4 Webster County (13-13) vs. No. 1 Madonna (26-4) – 10 a.m.

No. 3 East Hardy (12-15) vs. No. 2 Gilmer County (20-8) – 1 p.m.

Championship:

Saturday, June 7 at 10 a.m.

Class AA

Semifinals (Thursday, June 5)

No. 4 Wyoming East (25-7) vs. No. 1 Wheeling Central Catholic (25-4) – 5 p.m.

No. 3 Philip Barbour (22-6) vs. No. 2 Logan (27-4) – 8 p.m.

Championship:

Saturday, June 7 – 1 p.m.

Class AAA

Semifinals (Friday, June 6)

No. 4 Winfield (23-7) vs. No. 1 Ripley (24-3) – 10 a.m.

No. 3 Fairmont Senior (23-6) vs. No. 2 Frankfort (22-8) – 1 p.m.

Championship:

Saturday, June 7 – 5:30 p.m.

Class AAAA

Semifinals (Friday, June 6)

No. 4 Hedgesville (22-10) vs. No. 1 Hurricane (27-6) – 5 p.m.

No. 3 Morgantown (26-10) vs. No. 2 George Washington (27-8) – 8 p.m.

Championship:

Saturday, June 7 – 8:30 p.m.
