Water Department Announcement – Hydrant Flushing – The City of Buckhannon Water Department will begin flushing hydrants and conducting flow tests on Monday, April 14, 2025. This process will occur every workday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM throughout the city’s water system until completion. Please note that this does not include the public service districts.  We advise residents to check the water before doing light-colored laundry, as it may be discolored during flushing. The B-UHS Jazz Band Spring Concert – The B-UHS Jazz Band will hold its Spring Concert at the Colonial Arts Center on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.

The Upshur County Shrine Club Elimination Dinner will be at The Event Center at Brushy Fork on Saturday, April 19, 2025.

Notice of Meeting City of Buckhannon Planning Commission, April 21, 2025 – The Buckhannon City Planning Commission meeting will be held on April 21, 2025, at 7:00 P.M. The meeting will be held in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 70 East Main Street, Buckhannon, WV. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the request for the zoning change of Parcels 3-10-89, 3-10-90, 3-12-186, 3-12-184, 3-12-182, 3-12-182.1 and 3-12-180 situated along South Kanawha Street from R-1 Single Family Residential District to C-2 Highway Commercial District and possible recommendation to the City Council or to schedule the date of a Planning Commission public hearing; furthermore, such other matters will appear on the posted agenda. This is an open meeting (per WV code § 6-9A-3) and all interested parties are welcome to attend.

Free Residential Paper Shredding Event, April 26, 2025 – The Upshur County Solid Waste Authority is sponsoring a Free Paper Shredding Event (Residential Only) on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at 395 Mud Lick Rd. City to Assist With WVWC Graduation – Certain Street Closures on May 10, 2025 – To ensure the safety of West Virginia Wesleyan College graduates, guests, and event staff, and to minimize disruptions during the ceremony, the City of Buckhannon will be placing barricades at the following locations beginning at 8:00 a.m. and lasting until the ceremony concludes:

  • Corner of Florida Street and Camden Avenue – the purpose is to restrict general access to campus, but we will allow residents to reach their homes
  • Meade Street and Camden Avenue intersection
  • Meade Street and Wesley Drive intersection – We will permit access for handicapped parking
  • Camden Avenue and Brooke Street (Middle Nursing Building) – full closure to prevent through traffic

Pay Utility Bills Online or by Phone – To make an online payment for your utility bill, click here: https://www.municipalonlinepayments.com/buckhannonwv.  To pay over the phone, call 1-866-933-4026. Even if you do not wish to pay your bill using this method, you may still want to set up an account, which will allow you to monitor your consumption. To sign up for this service, you will need to complete the online registration, which includes knowing your Utility Board Account Number (printed on your bill) and the last amount you paid. Once your account has been established, you must log in with the proper email and password.

Reporting a Necessary Repair or Registering a Concern with the City – To report a necessary repair, such as potholes, damaged street signs, an issue in a city park, etc., or any other matter that a city department should attend to, call City Hall during regular business hours and ask to submit a work order request, or report your concerns through our Citizens Engagement tool: https://buckhannonwv.portal.iworq.net/BUCKHANNON/new-request/700/3444. This will speed up the reaction time to a matter that needs immediate attention.
