Jeffrey Linn Hefner

Jeffrey Linn Hefner, 68, of Buckhannon, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

He was born in Elkins on April 1, 1956, a son of the late Clarence “Bud” Keith Hefner, Sr. and Mildred Hicks Hefner. On December 10, 1989, he married his true love, Deidra Marie Kesling. Together, they spent thirty-six years raising a family.

Along with his parents, Jeffrey was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence “Rick” Hefner, Jr.

Forever cherishing their memories of Jeffrey with his wife are four children: Tracie Marie Tinker and husband Cameron of Lexington, KY; Christopher Hefner and wife Jacqueline; Jacob Hefner and Erika Hefner, all three of Buckhannon; four grandchildren: Millie, Henry, Mabel and Lily; two siblings: Helen Hefner and Pat Bennett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail,” and Jeffrey indeed blazed his own trail. A proud graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School in 1974 and a four-year scholar at West Virginia University (WVU). He carried this spirit of perseverance into his career as a coal miner, demonstrating his unwavering determination and strength. He retired from Leer Mines.

Beyond work and studies, Jeffrey was a man of many passions. He played both basketball and baseball. His love for the great outdoors often led him to the tranquility of nature, where he relished hunting and fishing. These hobbies were not just pastimes for Jeffrey; they were an extension of his character, highlighting his love for adventure, his patience and his dedication.

Jeffrey’s request for cremation has been honored by Clutter Funeral and Cremation, located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon.

We, at Clutter Funeral and Cremation, are honored and privileged to serve the family of Jeffrey Linn Hefner. Online condolences may be expressed at www.ClutterFuneralHome.com.
