Nina Estella Aylestock

Nina Estella Aylestock, age 90, formerly of Reger Street, Buckhannon, died Monday, December 16, 2024, at Holbrook Healthcare Center in Buckhannon. She was born on May 7, 1934, in Nutter Fort, WV, a daughter of the late Raymond C. and Nina E. Smith Wolfe. On July 31, 1961, she was united in marriage to Samuel Woodford Aylestock who preceded her in death on July 1, 2016.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by siblings: Lynn, Alice, Martha, Raymond, Ernestine, Garnet, Miriam, Dave, Nathan, Franklin, Maurice, and Ethel.

She is survived by two daughters: Ginger and husband Greg Wickenhofer of Wheeling and Linda and husband Jeff Mlsna of Wisconsin; two sons: Samuel W. Aylestock, II and wife Christy of Winnabow, NC and Steve Ross Aylestock and wife Karen of Great Falls, VA; thirteen grandchildren: Richard and Heidi Stanley, Brandon and wife Hannah Aylestock, Megan and husband Austin Ramsey, Pat Lewis, Jennifer Sagler, Kristin Mlsna, Chris and Jennifer Somers, Matthew and Peter Aylestock, Claire Carter, and Jacob Wickenhofer; great grandchild Rylie Aylestock; several step great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Alta Wolfe of Virginia, Eileen Wolfe of Ohio, Judy Aylestock of North Carolina, and Winona Aylestock of Florida; an adopted sister Janice Swick of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Aylestock was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she worked as secretary for many years. She also served as secretary for the Buckhannon-Upshur Christian School and was a member of Gideons International. She loved church activities, a good game of Scrabble with potato chips, and never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune. She loved to cook and care for her family throughout the year, but especially so at Christmas—her favorite season of the year.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 PM, at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at the funeral chapel, with Pastor Michael Tallman and the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Interment will follow in the Heavner Cemetery.
