BRIDGEPORT – The Mountain East Conference has announced the Male and Female Swimmers of the Week. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.

Wheeling’s Sarp Killic was chosen as the MEC Male Swimmer of the Week while West Virginia Wesleyan’s Breanna Waldron is the MEC Female Swimmer of the Week.

Killic, a freshman from Ankara, Turkey, led the Cardinals to three wins on the week with two individual wins, a second-place finish and a relay win. He posted career bests in the 200 and 500 freestyle races at the Washington & Jefferson/Salem tri meet, winning the 500 and taking second in the 200 to help WU to a pair of team wins. In the win over Malone, he won the 100 freestyle and swam a leg on the victorious 200 Medley Relay.

Waldron, a freshman from Fairmont, W.Va., helped the Bobcats sweep a tri-meet from Bethany and Franciscan by winning three individual events. Waldron posted victories in the 100 backstroke, the 100 breaststroke and the 400 individual medley, highlighted by a 1:09.1 time in the 100 back.
