Max Adams

Max Adams, age 100, of Buckhannon, WV, died Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the WV Veterans Nursing Facility of Clarksburg, WV.

He was born March 30, 1924, in Adrian, WV, a son of the late Clarence James and Nana Ruth Adams. On November 7, 1947, he married Billie Beth Hammond Adams who preceded him in death on May 16, 2013. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael Adams; one grandson, Mason Adam Chapman; one brother, Clarence James Adams, Jr and two sisters, Mary Pinnell and Phyllis Lee.

He is survived by one daughter, Suzzanne Chapman and husband Larry of Lost Creek, WV and six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Mr. Adams served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a former member and Master of Franklin Lodge # 7 AF & AM. As he retired, he enjoyed going camping in Florida and at Burnsville’s Rifle Run, which was his favorite place to camp. Winters were spent by him at Wimauma, Florida. He liked to play rook, hand and foot, and cards. He loved interacting with people, striking up conversations, and spending time with them.

Friends will be received Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 3 PM to 6 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Charles Madous officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Veteran Causes.
