Loretta Darlene Samples

Loretta Darlene Samples, age 75, of Buckhannon, WV, died Sunday, May 26, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.

She was born June 28, 1948, in Fairmont, WV, a daughter of the late Dixie and Betty Lou West Plymale. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jeff Marfield; one grandson, Jason Marfield; one brother, Clyde Plymale; one sister, Bonnie Plymale; one brother-in-law, Richard Scott and one sister-in-law, Patricia Plymale.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald Samples and wife Jan of Peel Tree, WV and Kenneth Samples and wife Roberta of Buckhannon; three daughters, Rebecca Harlan and husband James of Follansbee, WV, Sandra Marfield of Buckhannon and friend John Cain of Glenville, WV and Barbara Bailey and husband Jamie of Buckhannon; eleven grandchildren, Zachary Samples of Zelienople, PA, Jacob Harlan of Follansbee, Jared Harlan and wife Samantha of Henriville, UT, Jordan Harlan and wife Arianna of Lafayette, CO, Tyler and Brandon Marfield and Logan Bailey all of Buckhannon, Corey Boyles and fiancé Brie of Peel Tree Bethany Philpott and husband Tripp of Bassett, VA, Meghan Bailey of Buckhannon, and Colby Boyles of Peel Tree; four great-grandchildren, Judson Harlan of Lafayette, CO, Amaya Rodriguez of Abington, VA, Avery Harlan of Henrieville, UT and Hadley Philpott of Bassett, VA; one brother, Gene Plymale of Buckhannon; three sisters, Dorothy Coontz and husband Eugene of Martinsburg, WV, Margaret Rowan and husband Bill and Martha Scott all of Buckhannon and one sister-in-law, Dora Plymale of Jefferson, MD.

Ms. Samples was a CNA and attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Buckhannon. She enjoyed flowers, country music, watching game shows, crafts, puzzles, puzzle books, and playing solitaire.

Friends will be received Sunday, June 2, 2024, from 12 Noon until 2 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Mt. Lebanon Church Cemetery in Buckhannon, WV. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
