Delbert Lee McCartney

Delbert Lee McCartney, age 92, of Crawford, WV, died Monday, May 6, 2024, at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV.

He was born October 20, 1931, in Cherry Fork, WV, a son of the late William G. and Dorothy Forinash McCartney. On June 1, 1955, he married Margaret Jane McKisic who preceded him in death on December 27, 2016. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Lee McCartney; four brothers, Cecil, Russel, Kermit, and Weese McCartney and two sisters, Opal Johns and Murl Walton.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Joyce McCartney of Crawford, WV and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. McCartney served in the U.S. Air Force and  was a Methodist by faith. He worked in construction, loved woodworking, and was a wood turner. Many of his creations were sold at the Tamarack, Jackson’s Mill, and other various craft fairs.

Friends will be received Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 12 (noon) to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM with Rev. Michael W. Wamsley officiating. Burial will follow in the Heaston Ridge Church Cemetery in Heaston Ridge, WV.
