Wesleyan Marching Band to present concert on Nov.15

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Wesleyan College Marching Band will present a benefit indoor concert on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Culpepper Auditorium in the Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts.

The group will perform selections from their fall 2018 season and donations at the door will be directed to the band’s new uniform drive.

The marching band, which has become one of the most popular groups on campus, was reinstated at Wesleyan in 2014 after a 40-year hiatus.  In its fifth season, under the direction of Logan Lindsey, the band has grown to 96 members, making it the third largest collegiate marching band in West Virginia.

The group presents a 20-minute pregame show before every Wesleyan home football game and a half-time field show that is presented every game except Homecoming.

The half-time show is also presented after each game and the Bobcat Band also performs a “5th Quarter Concert” of all the fan favorites from the day.

The reputation of the band has grown beyond the Wesleyan campus and the group is routinely being recruited to participate in band showcases in different parts of the state.  The uniform drive will allow the marching band to broaden its outreach in communities and schools across the state.

In addition to the Bobcat Marching Band, Wesleyan’s Music Department also features a big band and small group jazz ensembles, a wind ensemble, concert chorale, Wesleyan Singers, and Concentus Vocum.

Wesleyan offers performing arts scholarships to both music and non-music majors.  Contact the Wesleyan Office of Admission at 304-473-8510 or at www.wvwc.edu for more information about scholarship auditions.
