Volleyball Lady ‘Cats drop road outing at West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY — The West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats traveled to West Liberty University for another conference matchup during their 2023 campaign. After coming off a loss to Wheeling University in their previous conference matchup, the Bobcats would be looking to get their second win in conference. The Bobcats would lose to West Liberty in 3 straight sets, falling to 5-13 on the season and 1-7 in conference.

During this match between West Liberty, the Bobcats got off to a very slow start which would lead to them losing the first set 16-25. West Liberty was led by Leah Driscoll, who finished the game with 8 kills. Kateylnn Fritz, Page Gross, and and Liv McAtee all collected 7 kills each as well. The Bobcats lost set 2, 19-25 and set 3, 16-25. West Liberty was dominant throughout this match and shut down any comeback that the Bobcats had in mind. In defeat the Bobcats were led by freshman Olivia Albrecht, with 10 kills during the match. Autumn Molenhouse totaled for 26 assists and Bhrooke Axe and Emily Denison combined for 13 kills as well. Defensivley Hope Arce-Reed, Bhrooke Axe, and Emily Denison all combined for 7 blocks.

The Bobcats will continue its 2023 campaign against Davis and Elkins on Tuesday Oct.10th at 7 p.m. in the Rockefeller Center.

The Bobcats are set to play Frostburg State University at home on Friday, October 20th, in the Rockefeller Center at 7pm.
