Four soccer Bucs honored at regional, state level

BUCKHANNON — Four Buckhannon-Upshur High School boys soccer players were honored by the West Virginia High School Soccer Coaches Association this week.

B-U’s Ryan Hurst was named to the prestigious West Virginia All-State soccer team, the WVHSSCA announced Monday.

Hurst, a sophomore midfielder, was selected to the AAA second team squad. He was the only B-U player to make the All-State team.

The Buccaneers placed four players on the All-Region team. Fellow sophomore Lane Tenney joined Hurst as a first-team selection, while sophomore defender Sam Squires and junior keeper Logan Kelley represent B-U on the second team.

Joseph Biafora of University was voted the Region 1 Player of the Year, while Hawks coach Dustin Talton earned the regional Coach of the Year award.

The West Virginia players of the year will be announced at the All-State banquet on Nov. 17.
