BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Notre Dame’s Arthur Favero and Nicholas Felician, along with the University of Charleston’s Williams N’Dah and Dan Stratford have earned top honors from the Mountain East Conference as the league announced its annual awards and all-conference teams.
Favero, a junior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, racked up 30 points on the season and led the league in points per game. His 11 goals tied for second-most in the league, and his eight assists matched the league-high. He scored in 10 of NDC’s 17 games on the year and fired a league-high 76 shots up top for the Falcons. He is majoring in finance and international business.
N’Dah, a senior from Rome, Italy, is the MEC Defensive Player of the Year after anchoring one of the top defenses in the country this fall as a center back. The team captain helped UC post 15 shutouts and a NCAA-leading 0.18 goals-against average. N’Dah has also stepped forward and scored three goals in 2018. He is majoring in movement science and has a 3.46 grade-point average.
Felician, a native of Brunswick, Ohio, is the conference’s Freshman of the Year for his play as striker for Notre Dame. Felician made an immediate impact in his first season with the Falcons scoring seven goals and adding five assists. Three of his five goals went for game-winners.
Stratford was named MEC Coach of the Year after leading Charleston to a 15-0-2 record, including a 13-0-1 mark in league play and a fifth-straight MEC regular season title. Stratford’s balanced unit leads the league in goals (48) and fewest goals allowed (3). The Golden Eagles have been ranked in the top 10 in the country for most of the year and have been atop the NCAA Atlantic Regional Rankings in each of the first two weeks.
In addition to the individual honors, the league also announced the All-MEC teams. Regular season champion Charleston had five first team selections, while runner-up Notre Dame had four. Urbana had two first team selections, while Concord, West Virginia Wesleyan and Wheeling Jesuit each had one honoree.
The All-MEC teams are selected by a vote of the league’s coaches.
