William E. ‘Bill’ Sanders

William E. “Bill” Sanders, 68, of French Creek, the Frenchton Community, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018, at the home of his daughter.

He was born April 23, 1950, in Upshur County, a son of the late Foran Kern and Hazelton Maxine Perry Sanders.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother Mike Sanders and his companion Ginger Strader, and three sisters:  Doris Lambert, Sharon Bowen and her husband Donnie, and Emma Sanders.

He is survived by one daughter Dawn and husband Jerry Arnold of French Creek; beloved grandchildren Shayla and husband Patrick Gowers of French Creek and Dakota Arnold and girlfriend Shelby Daugherty of French Creek; one cherished great granddaughter McKinley Gowers of French Creek; two brothers:  Richard Sanders of Rock Cave and Robert Sanders of Virginia; Bill’s ex-wife Marie Woodyard; one brother-in-law Herald Lambert of West Virginia; one special sister-in-law Retha Ann Mealey; two aunts:  Frances Norman of Florida and Mabel Vinyard of Ohio; one uncle Bill Perry of Ohio; special nephews:  Rich and Travis Sanders of Rock Cave; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and many special friends and card-playing pals.

Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during Vietnam.  Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and all WVU Mountaineer Sports.

He was a carpenter by trade and was employed later in life by French Creek Heating and Plumbing and Crites Electric.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, from 4-7 p.m., at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel.  The funeral will be held on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, at 11 a.m., at the funeral chapel, with Pastor David Jessie officiating.  Interment will follow in the Post Chapel Cemetery, where the Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
