Free books! Literacy Volunteers of Upshur County to host a gigantic book liquidation event through Saturday

LORENTZ – If you love to spend long hours curled up with a book but are a little short on cash, you’re in luck.

The Literacy Volunteers of Upshur County organization is hosting a Gigantic Book Liquidation Sale that began Thursday and will continue for the next two days, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18 and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 19. The liquidation sale will take place at the Lorentz United Methodist Church, located at 3496 Old Weston Road.

(It’s the white church with red doors and a curved uphill driveway with room to park in the back.)

The LVUC hosted their annual book sale last week, but because the nonprofit organization is losing its storage facility space at the church, all books must go – and they’re free!

Although freewill donations will be accepted, they’re not required, according to LVUC. Book selections include, but aren’t limited to the following genres: cookbooks, biographies/autobiographies, history, romance, fantasy, science fiction, sports, children’s books, gardening/canning, business/finance, humor, crafts/decorating, sewing/crocheting, and travel/language.

You’ll also find works by popular authors like Mary Higgins Clark, Danielle Steele and more.

Literacy Volunteers of Upshur County is a nonprofit organization that strives to increase literacy rates in Upshur County through free and confidential one-to-one or group tutoring to residents ages 16 or older. Tutoring in reading, writing, life skills and English as a Second Language is available.
