Soccer ‘Cats earn 1-0 home win over Cedarville

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Wesleyan (4-2-2) men’s soccer team took down Cedarville (4-4-1) 1-0 thanks to a rocket from Adam Gribben on Saturday (Sept. 24) at Cebe Ross Field.

In the first half, the Yellow Jackets had an opportunity early on in the game but could not capitalize on a dangerous ball in the area. The Bobcats were able to put some pressure on the Yellow Jackets in the half and registered a total of 4 shots.

In the second half, the Bobcats came out with much more intensity from the start and were able to capitalize on a loose ball on top of the area. The Scottish native, Adam Gribben, was able to get on the ball and fire an absolute rocket into the top left corner of the goal leaving the goalkeeper with no chance to make a save. Gribben earned his first career collegiate goal with class.

The Bobcat defense were able to see out the half without conceding a goal. Bryant Sheffield earned his first clean sheet of the season and made five saves.

The Bobcats are back to conference play on Wednesday (Sept. 28) for a road match at Frostburg State.
