Buckhannon Community Theatre (BCT) is back after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
BCT is proud to present the children’s production of Frozen Jr. at the Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts at West Virginia Wesleyan College from August 11-14, 2022. The cast and crew are being led by director Kiersten White, music director Taylor Conrad, and choreographer Eva Atha.
The 25 young people in the cast and crew range in age from third grade through high school seniors. They are learning about all aspects of theatre education, including staging, singing, choreography, memorizing lines, props, costuming, expectations during rehearsals, and putting together a production. The young thespians have been grouped in mentoring relationships so older students are getting leadership experience.
Frozen Jr. is being produced by local arts educator and 20+ year member of BCT, Jeremiah Smallridge.
“It warms my heart so much to see actors in a BCT production again,” commented Smallridge. “I particularly enjoy the wonder and enthusiasm all the new young faces are bringing to this production. Young people who are involved in theatre and other performing arts are likely to maintain an appreciation and understanding for the arts throughout their lives. These kids will be our arts leaders of tomorrow, and that is both comforting and exciting.”
The show will be presented at 7:00 PM on August 11-13 with a 2:30 PM matinee on August 14. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased at the door prior to the performance.
