Buckhannon native returns home to join Dr. Michael Miller General Dentistry

BUCKHANNON – Buckhannon native Dr. Nicholas Dahlheim has returned home to practice dentistry alongside his mentor, Dr. Michael Miller.

After graduation from West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 2021, Dr. Dahlheim had the opportunity to live and practice dentistry anywhere across the United States. However, the hills of Upshur County were calling him home.

“The friendliness of [Buckhannon], the nostalgia,” Dr. Dahlheim said during a recent interview with My Buckhannon. “I’ve been away for six years and I thought about not coming back. But as I thought about it longer, I really started missing the place and wanting to come back. [To] see all of my coaches and friends who have stayed [in Buckhannon], it’s a memory rush.”

Dr. Dahlheim’s passion for “giving back to the community” will be channeled through his practice of dental hygiene, care and surgery.

The move is a return home in more ways than one — Dr. Dahlheim served as an intern at Dr. Miller’s office around seven years ago. Then, he moved onto West Virginia Wesleyan College to continue his studies and later entered the West Virginia University School of Dentistry, where he graduated in 2021. Throughout that time, Dr. Dahlheim continued to pursue a relationship with Dr. Miller and his staff. Also a member of the National Guard Army Reserve, Dr. Dahlheim provides dental care for active members up to two days per month.

The passion and dedication to the Upshur County community and desire to serve his community played a major role in Dr. Dahlheim returning to his old stomping grounds: Dr. Michael Miller General Dentistry, which will now become Miller and Dahlheim Dental.

Dr. Dahlheim hopes to foster a “family experience” atmosphere for patients of all ages.

“[This office] is a place where you can ask as many questions as you want and learn about the process you are going through,” Dr. Dahlheim said. “You can feel confident that you are going to get the best of care.”

Dr. Dahlheim will begin seeing patients on Wednesday, July 20 at Miller and Dahlheim Dental in Buckhannon.

“[I would like to give] a personal thank you to Dr. Miller for giving me the opportunity to shadow and waiting for me to go through dental school and residency to get to this point, to work together. I really look forward to the future,” Dr. Dahlheim said.

Visit Miller and Dahlheim Dental at 86 East Main Street, Suite A in Buckhannon. Learn more about Dr. Dahlheim and Dr. Miller’s services on their website or call 304-472-8598.
